After a thrilling 31-24 victory over Thomas Jefferson Saturday in the WPIAL Class 4A championships at Heinz Field, the Lions will now have their sights set on a PIAA title starting this week.

South Fayette (12-1) will play District-10 champion and defending Class 4A state champion Cathedral Prep (10-3) Friday at Veterans Stadium in Erie.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.

The Ramblers will be looking for their fourth state title since 2000. Cathedral Prep routed District 9 champion Clearfield, 55-21, last Saturday at Slippery Rock University to advance to the PIAA quarterfinals Friday.

South Fayette has won the WPIAL four times since 2010, and its last three trips to the PIAA postseason have been pretty successful. The Lions won state championships in 2013 and 2014, and also lost in the PIAA Finals in 2010 to West Philadelphia Catholic.

The other quarterfinal matchups in Class 4A are District 2 champion Valley View vs. District 12 champion Imhotep at Northern Lehigh High School Saturday at 1 p.m., District 11 champion Bethlehem Catholic vs. District 1 champion Pottsgrove at Pallsades High School Friday at 7 p.m. and District 3 opponents Bishop McDevitt vs. Berks Catholic at Manhelm Township High School Friday at 1 p.m.

The semifinal round will be contested either Nov. 30 or Dec. 1. The Class 4A title game will be Dec. 6 at Hersheypark Stadium.
