McCourty twins reunited after trade

3 min read

The McCourty twins are back together.

The Cleveland Browns traded cornerback Jason McCourty to the New England Patriots on Thursday, reuniting him with his brother Devin. The Browns also sent a seventh-round pick to the Patriots to get a sixth-rounder in return.

“Cleveland it’s been real!” Jason McCourty wrote on the Twitter account the brothers share. “I wish nothing but the best to the guys in that locker room!”

The Browns have been one of the most active teams in the NFL this offseason as they try to rebuild from last season’s 0-16 record. They have already traded for quarterback Tyrod Taylor and three-time Pro Bowl receiver Jarvis Landry, while signing seven free agents, including running back Carlos Hyde.

They also made a deal on Wednesday to send defensive lineman Danny Shelton to New England for a third-round pick in 2019. But the defending AFC champion Patriots have mostly been losing players, including receiver Danny Amendola, left tackle Nate Solder, defensive back Malcolm Butler and running back Dion Lewis.

Miami trade might mean end for Pouncey: The Miami Dolphins acquired center Daniel Kilgore in a trade Thursday with San Francisco amid reports they plan to release three-time Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey.

The trade was part of a makeover in the interior of the offensive line. Four-time Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton agreed to terms with Miami on a two-year deal that could be worth nearly $18 million including incentives, said his agent, Jack Reale.

Pouncey, 28, has been plagued by serious problems with both hips, and at one time said he feared the issue might be career-ending. But last season he played in all 16 games for the first time since 2012.

The Dolphins also signed former New England Patriots receiver Danny Amendola and re-signed long snapper John Denney, who has been with the team since 2005 and turns 40 in December.

Moncrief signs year deal with Jags: Donte Moncrief is gladly gambling on himself.

The former Indianapolis Colts receiver signed a one-year, $7 million contract with AFC South rival Jacksonville on Thursday, believing he can prove he’s worth a more lucrative, long-term deal.

“I love that deal,” Moncrief said. “I know what I’m capable of, I’m back healthy and I’m going to go out here and show these guys what I can do, show the NFL and put everything on my shoulders and give Jacksonville all I got and help these guys win. I know I can.”

The Jaguars are counting on Moncrief to help offset the loss of former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson, who signed a three-year, $42 million deal in free agency with Chicago.
