Vincenti scores twice in OT as Fort Cherry edges Carlynton
McDONALD — Zach Vincenti scored on a 10-yard touchdown run on Fort Cherry’s first play of the second overtime as the Rangers outlasted visiting Carlynton, 21-14.
The game was a defensive struggle and went to overtime tied at 7-7. Carlynton (1-1) took a 14-7 lead in the first overtime when Will McClendon caught a 10-yard TD pass. McClendon had opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 43-yard TD run. McClendon was the game’s leading rusher with 89 yards.
Fort Cherry needed one play in overtime to tie the score at 14-14 as Vincenti scored on a 10-yard scamper. Vincenti finished with 72 rushing yards.
Carlynton turned the ball over on downs in the second overtime and Vincenti’s second score of OT was the game-winner.
After being blanked in the first half, Fort Cherry tied the score at 7-7 in the third quarter when Noah Babirad caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Brady Whalen.
