The 2018 United Way of Washington County’s Annual Campaign is almost over. Please help us to finish strong!
Since August of last year, dozens of volunteer campaigners have been working throughout Southpointe, and all of Washington County, to raise funds for the 27 programs and services United Way is currently funding. Our campaign ends on April 30, 2018. At this point in the Campaign, we are about $50,000 below last year’s total. We remain confident that we will surpass that amount. Both Range Resources and Mylan are currently conducting their Campaigns, which involve hundreds of local employees and strong support from the top management teams at both companies.
So, if you haven’t given yet, I would like to ask – and your company – to consider making a donation. You may be asking yourself, “Why give United Way your hard-earned money?”
If so, here are a few reasons why: The United Way is a community-based effort that assures givers, as well as receivers, that an essential network of high quality human-care services will continue to exist. United Way has been raising much-needed funds for this community since 1925. Our local nonprofits depend on this community – and United Way – to help fund them. We can try our best, but we have no control over lay-offs, mergers, industry fluctuations, relocations, downsizing and downturns. We cannot offer more in grants to local charities than this community is willing to give.
A great reason to give is because every dollar you give to United Way makes a big difference for your neighbors and friends in Washington County. All resources raised here, stay here (unless the door designates to an organization outside of the community) to make the greatest possible impact in our community.
Our agency partners report an increase in demand and provide an incredible variety of valuable services. Whom does United Way help? Veterans, seniors, children, schools, families, the homeless, the medically and mentally fragile and the abused and neglected of Washington County. You can see the full list on our website, www.unitedwaywashco.org, or contact us for a brochure.
Many people have used United Way agencies without even knowing it. Even if you or members of your family haven’t used United Way services, it’s comforting to know that they will be there should you ever need them in the future. Any one of us is just one catastrophic event away from being in a position where services would be vital. Whether it be a financial crisis, an on-going health issue or even a situation where you’re just needing someone to talk to, our partner agencies are here to help!
United Way makes donating easy for you – you can choose to donate through payroll deduction at work, through a monthly bank withdrawal, setting up a billing schedule or by making a one-time donation. It is going to take ALL of us to make Washington County a better place to live! It takes a community to make a positive impact on a community.
If you can, please join our Campaign and donate on our website or by sending your contribution to United Way of Washington County, 590 Washington Road, Washington, PA 15301.
