It’s not easy becoming a teacher in Pennsylvania. I should know. As a student at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, I’ve been working on becoming one for the past three years.

That is a lot of whining for a job that has every weekend and holiday off, free lunch, and a three month paid vacation every summer, not to mention holiday breaks,

"Free lunch". . . . . I thought I had heard them all but that's a new one. I guess you and gwdawes1 have differing opinions on this one.

Isn't it great - we have different opinions yet don't hate each other?

alex

You have no respect for what a teacher does only criticism. I believe Trump had the same attitude towards teachers.

Bill Smyth

It really is true. You can turn ANYTHING into an anti-Trump rant. You sir need professional help!

alex

No I don't need professional help but really think you do.

And it doesn't sound as if you understand the concept of delayed paychecks, which benefits the school district where the educators work.

Our school are becoming very dangerous places to work, or even to attend. Just look at Oliver Academy in Pittsburgh. One teacher raped by a student and two students killed all just in one year. Kids with sever mental issues can not be allowed to attend school any longer, they are just too dangerous to be allowed in public places. If a teacher is a young healthy male he can handle most issues. Young women and older teachers cannot. So they leave the profession out of safety concerns. And until those concerns are addressed a shortage will continue. The problem with those students are due to poor parenting and lack of law enforcement punishment. We need to stop looking the other way. Stop releasing them to continue to commit crimes. Money money won't solve the problem but a safe work environment will. Maybe get OSHA involved in school safety.
