Is there no bottom to GOP’s hypocrisy?

Is there no bottom to the hypocrisy of the Republican Party? It claims to be the party of “family values” but remains silent while its leader, Donald Trump, attacks war heroes, minority congresswomen, migrants and people of color.

While it has been documented that Trump has lied more than 10,000 times during his presidency and continues to praise neo-Nazis, dictators, White Nationalists and sexual predators, his Republican allies remain silent. Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, both from Cuba and former Trump critics, are now silent as he attacks Hispanics. John McCarthy, GOP leader of the House, is silent, and of course Lindsey Graham (who once said Trump is a kook) and Senate leader Mitch McConnell say nothing about Trump’s racism and lawless behavior. Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey and my representative, Guy Reschenthaler ignore Trump’s outrages as well.

Are all these so-called leaders so afraid of losing their next election that they are willing to sacrifice their own values? I guess Trump’s racism is OK as long as he doesn’t attack them. Such cowardice!

As Martin Luther King Jr. stated many years ago, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Hopefully the remedy for this national embarrassment – Trump and his allies – will be the 2020 elections. Hopefully people will remember, and vote.
