Drug charges: Sayvon Carter, 22, of 328 Washington Ave., Charleroi, was charged with possession with intent to deliver, flight to avoid apprehension, escape, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia by borough police Wednesday. According to the criminal complaint, police pulled Carter over about 10:50 p.m. June 4 on California Road after he ran a stop sign. Police said they could smell marijuana and asked Carter to step out of the vehicle. Carter allegedly ran and was found in the woods. Police said they found more than 279 grams of marijuana in the car and $1,033 in cash. Carter was incarcerated in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 17 before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Woman jailed: Denise Gayle Williams, 40, of 705 Henry St., North Belle Vernon, is charged by city police with giving an officer a false identity during a traffic stop about 8 p.m. May 31 at City Park Road and Euclid Avenue, court records show. Police remanded her to Washington County jail on an unrelated bench warrant.
Pair charged: William Koster III, 70, of 68 S. McKean Ave., Donora, and Jamie Lynn Wergin, 48, of 1144 Dennis Ave., Monessen, are charged by city police with conspiracy and felony retail theft, court records show. Police accuse them of stealing $48 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 2 Eastgate Ave., about 4 p.m. Sunday. A senior district judge signed warrants Wednesday for their arrests.
Assault alleged: Howard Arbuckle, 57, of 366 Lenity School Road, Rostraver Township, is charged by township police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he struck Nolan Robinson several times in his head in their residence about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. Arbuckle is free on $1,000 unsecured bond.
