Assault alleged: Sandra Rae Brottish, 70, of 711 Seventh St., Mather, was charged by state police with simple assault and two counts of harassment after allegedly getting into a fight with her family last month at American Legion Post 954 on Franklin Street. Police said that just before 10 p.m. June 25, Brottish grabbed her daughter, Christine Whipkey, by the hair and threw her on the ground. Police said Christine’s husband, David Whipkey, then started recording video of Brottish and yelled for the bartender to kick her out of the bar. Police said Brottish then took a pool cue and struck David in the head with it. David was treated at WHS-Greene Hospital for a large contusion and laceration on top of his head.
Theft charge: Marko Demaske, 56, of 1447 Main St., Jefferson, was charged by state police with theft after he allegedly stole $20 worth of scrap metal from a Jefferson Township resident July 11. Police said Demaske allegedly started loading his truck with scrap metal from a pile belonging to Caroline Hall. When she confronted him about it, he allegedly yelled at her, according to the criminal complaint. Demaske put some of the scrap back, but allegedly kept some, police said. Demaske allegedly told Hall that her husband, Junior Hall, owed him money, the complaint said. Junior Hall told police that Demaske did not have permission to take the scrap metal, the complaint said.
