Man wanted: Anthony James Franco, 19, of 104 Second St., Vestaburg, is charged by Carroll police with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show. Police accuse Franco of pushing an emergency department technician against a wall about 3 a.m. Saturday at Mon Valley Hospital, 1163 Country Club Road. District Judge Larry Hopkins signed a warrant Tuesday for Franco’s arrest.
Assault alleged: Malek Darnell Walton, 19, of 227 ½ McKean Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with strangulation, simple assault, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, court records show. Police accuse Walton of attempting to shove Briana Howard down a flight of stairs and also striking and choking her outside of his residence about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Police said he also kicked and dented a door on a cruiser. Walton was placed in Washington County jail on $20,000 bail set by District Judge Traci McDonald Kemp.
Stolen vehicle: Taryll Skaggs, 43, of Walnut Street, Monongahela, was charged with theft by unlawful taking and unauthorized use of a vehicle by city police Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint, Skaggs was staying at a Walnut Street residence after being released from prison. On Monday night, he is accused of taking the homeowner’s Chevrolet Cruze without permission. Skaggs was placed in Washington County jail on $15,000 bond set by District Judge Traci McDonald Kemp. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 17 before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Attempted theft: James P. Spaley, 39, of 69 Galati Road, Cecil Township, was charged with deceptive business practices, theft by deception, retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia by state police Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint, Spaley presented falsified IRS forms to an employee of the Verizon Wireless store at 1500 W. Chestnut St., North Franklin Township. He allegedly claimed to be an employee of C&D Lumber while attempting to open a $5,000 line of credit to purchase cellphones. Police said Spaley later told officers he intended to sell the phones for drugs. Spaley was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 22 before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Trespass: Terrence Meckler, 38, of 526 N. Meadowcroft Ave., Mt. Lebanon, was charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief and harassment by township police Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint, Meckler broke in the door of a home on Driftwood Drive in North Strabane Township about 11:30 p.m. Monday. Police said he was intoxicated. Meckler was placed in Washington County jail on $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 23 at North Strabane district court.
Drug possession: Cody Checque, 30, of Finleyville, was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia by the Washington County Drug Task Force Tuesday. According to the criminal complaint, there was a controlled delivery of three ounces of cocaine and two ounces of marijuana to a residence on McChain Road in Union Township. The envelope was opened by Checque, according to police. Police executed a search warrant at the residence and said they discovered two pounds of marijuana and $5,000. Checque was released from Washington County jail after posting a portion of his $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 16 before District Judge Jesse Pettit.
