CECIL

Assault alleged: John Michael Cumpston, 68, of 127 Locust St., Muse, is charged by township police with simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness, court records show. Police accuse Cumpston of pushing Joseph Preteroti from behind, causing him to fall down a dozen steps about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a bar on Muse-Bishop Road. He is free on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.

Man charged: Nichalaus Alexander Jaworski, 26, of Salisbury, N.C., is charged by township police with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Cecil police accuse him of having two loaded handguns in his vehicle where he was discovered asleep and parked crooked about 4 a.m. Sunday at 660 Southpointe Boulevard. He is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.

NORTH STRABANE

Assault alleged: Donald Kenneth Valentine Jr., 30, of 100 Burkett Lane, North Strabane Township, is charged by township police with strangulation, simple assault and harassment, court records show. Police accuse Valentine of striking his wife, Stephanie Valentine, before shoving her onto a bed and choking her about 3 a.m. Saturday in his residence. He is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.

SMITH

Burglary: Brandon McGivern, 29, of 40 Cherry Creek Road, Smith Township, was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, theft of secondary metal and receiving stolen property by township police Sunday. According to the criminal complaint, McGivern drove Michael Lowe to used car lots to steal catalytic converters from vehicles. McGivern is also accused of driving Lowe to burglarize homes in Atlasburg and Bulger. McGivern was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. July 11 before District Judge Gary Havelka.

WASHINGTON

Assault charge: City police charged Destiny P. Matthews, 20, of South Strabane Township, with simple assault, disorderly conduct and a summary count of harassment, stemming from a fight she allegedly started with a clerk at Circle K on West Chestnut Street May 21. Charges were filed by summons on Friday at District Judge Robert Redlinger’s office.

WEST BROWNSVILLE

Assault alleged: Ryan Thomas Bachurski, 26, of 510 Madison Ave., West Brownsville, is charged by borough police with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, court records show. Bachurski is accused of chasing Matthew Hall with a .22-caliber handgun through yards and streets in Blainesburg Saturday following an argument about Hall’s dog damaging Bachurski’s car. Bachurski is free on $10,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.

WEST MIDDLETOWN

Stolen firearms: Two handguns were reported stolen between 1:30 p.m. June 7 and 10:30 a.m. June 12 from a house on Front Street. A locked side door was forced open to gain entry. State police are investigating.

ALEPPO

Theft reported: Hydraulic lines and a battery were reported as having been removed from an excavator belonging to a Cameron, W.Va., man at Centennial Cemetery on Aleppo Road. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. June 18 and 1:48 p.m. June 21. The items’ total value is reportedly $520.

CUMBERLAND

Harassment charge: Theo Johnson, 32, of 16 E. Main St., New Salem, was charged by township police with harassment after he allegedly sent a threatening message to his ex-girlfriend’s cousin, who lives in the township. Police said the electronic message, sent June 18, suggested that Johnson knew where the cousin lived, and that he was going to find her and physically assault her, according to the criminal complaint. The cousin took a screen shot of the message for police.

Drug charge: Lawrence Michael Plavi, 38, of 204 Hilltop Court, Nemacolin, was charged by township police with possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident June 12 at a residence at 270 Perry Ave. Police said that about 5:40 a.m., the property owner found Plavi sleeping on a couch in his basement, though he didn’t have permission. Police said they found a smoking device with suspected methamphetamine on a table next to the couch.

RICHHILL

Drug charge: Thomas Eugene Allen, 26, of Cameron, W.Va., was charged by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia after police executed an arrest warrant on Allen June 12 at his friend’s residence, 133 W. Roy Furman Highway. Police said they found a crack pipe on a table in the residence where they arrested Allen.

Simple assault charge: Caitlyn Elizabeth Liggett, 26, of 6 Wheeling Creek Road Mobile Home Park, Wind Ridge, was charged by state police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after she allegedly struck her neighbor in the back with a metal pole after they fought over a trampoline. Police said Liggett’s neighbor, Derek Mitchell, didn’t want Liggett’s children playing on the trampoline in his yard because their landlord said it was his. According to the criminal complaint, Mitchell started taking the trampoline apart June 16, so Liggett’s children couldn’t play on it. She allegedly picked up one of the metal poles of the trampoline and struck Mitchell across the back with it. Liggett denied striking Mitchell.
