Police investigate possible arson in Morgan Township
State police are investigating a fire in a vacant house that occurred Monday night in Morgan Township, Greene County.
Jefferson fire Chief Joe Petek said his department arrived at 10:58 p.m. at the house at 934 Jefferson Road.
“When we arrived, the front end of the house was fully involved,” he said Wednesday.
No injuries occurred, he said, and no one was inside, as the house had been vacant for a while.
State police fire Marshal Doug Rush said he’s investigating the incident as a potential arson, for which he does have leads.
“There were suspicious circumstances behind it,” he said.
Petek said Waynesburg and Rices Landing firefighters assisted at the scene.
According to Greene County Chief Clerk Jeff Marshall, the house had been purchased through a sheriff sale last year. In January, it was purchased by Ronald Golden, according to tax records.
