MONESSEN – A Monessen woman has been accused of striking her boyfriend in the head with a hammer, causing a substantial injury above his right eye.

Monessen police arrested Erin Nicole Walker, 33, of 26 Linden Ave., about 2:40 p.m. Saturday at her residence, where her boyfriend claimed the assault took place during an argument.

Christopher Slavik said he was assaulted after he accused Walker of spending money on marijuana rather than clothes for their children, police stated in court records.

Slavik was treated for his injuries at Mon Valley Hospital.

Walker was released on $50,000 unsecured bond set by District Judge Wayne Gongaware.
