A Meadow Lands man wanted by Canonsburg police for assaulting a borough man in his home last week was arraigned after turning himself in to police Tuesday.

Randon Lee Watts, 33, of 85 Barnickle St., is accused of assaulting 28-year-old Raymond Santomo early Friday.

Police were contacted just before noon Friday by Santomo’s father, who said his son had been assaulted earlier that morning and was in the emergency room at Canonsburg Hospital, before his transfer to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Santomo’s father told police the following day doctors believed it was not just fists that caused his son’s injuries, but likely some object that was used in the assault. Police Chief Al Coghill said he cannot say with certainty brass knuckles found in the home after the attack were used in the assault.

Police went to the emergency room and saw Santomo had serious injuries to the left side of his face. His father told police his son had a broken jaw, broken orbital bones, other broken facial bones and head trauma.

Santomo said the last thing he remembered was coming home from work about 5 a.m. before being awakened by his roommate abut 9:30 a.m. The roommate told him he was badly injured and needed to get to the hospital. The roommate and another friend then took Santomo to the hospital.

According to police, Santomo told officers he did not remember being hit or who hit him, but he remembers a friend telling him that it was Watts who assaulted him.

The roommate reportedly told police that Watts was among people who had come to the home and were drinking. He said Santomo also had some drinks when he returned home from work. The roommate said he went to bed and Santomo and Watts were still up drinking.

When the roommate woke up, he said he had a voicemail from Watts, who said he and Santomo had argued, and that he pushed Santomo out of his face. The roommate then went to check on Santomo and found him injured, police said.

Police went to the home and found it in disarray, with blood everywhere in the living room. Police also found the brass knuckles.

On Watts’ Facebook page, he reportedly posted about the confrontation and said he was probably going to jail.

Watts was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. Watts is scheduled for a June 19 preliminary hearing before District Judge David Mark.
