Plenty of local talent brought home victories before the week-long extravaganza that is the Pennsylvania Farm Show wrapped up Saturday.

Against hundreds of competitors from across the state, almost 300 residents and groups from Washington and Greene counties came out on top in events that ranged from decorating bowling pins to showing sheep.

Alexa Miles of McDonald won big in the Junior Market Goat Show on Jan. 7, receiving first place in the Middleweight Division for her wether kid before being selected as Grand Champion.

In addition, Amanda Cole of Bentleyville was one of 24 young agriculturalists to be awarded $3,500 from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation.
