An arrest warrant has been issued for a Monongahela Township man accused of holding family members at gunpoint in a Crucible home and demanding money before allegedly driving one relative to a nearby bank to get out cash.

Samuel Roy Reese Jr., 39, of 218 Little Chicago Road, faces a myriad of charges for an incident about 8 p.m. Thursday in which Cumberland Township police responded to reports of a man making threats with a firearm at 253 Third Ave., as well as someone firing shots earlier in the day, according to court documents.

Damon Reese told police Samuel Reese held his family at gunpoint before leaving the home. Carol Reese also told police Samuel came to the home to take money from her, but when she refused to give him money or her debit card, Samuel began to push her and pulled out a handgun and held it to her head, according to court documents. Carol said Samuel fired two shots from inside a Little Chicago Road home earlier that day.

Police said Samuel also shoved and punched Carol’s daughter, Gina Reese, and held the gun to Carol’s throat when she tried to intervene. Police said Samuel also pointed the gun at Damon at least twice, but Damon was able to escape the home through a bathroom window to call the police.

Police described the alleged victims as “family” but did not indicate how they were related.

Police said Samuel grabbed Carol by her shirt and pulled her out of the Third Avenue home, demanding she get him money. Gina insisted she go instead and took her mother’s debit card, police said, with Samuel driving them to First National Bank in Dry Tavern to withdraw money from Carol’s bank account. Police said Samuel withdrew an undisclosed amount of money from the account.

Police later searched the Dry Tavern area and remained at the Crucible home in case Samuel returned.

Gina told investigators Samuel threatened to drive the car into the river and said she would need to jump from the car to avoid drowning.

Samuel returned to Clarksville and left the vehicle, police said. Gina, who was unharmed, drove back to her Third Avenue home.

Samuel Reese was charged Friday with felony burglary, kidnapping for ransom, two counts of robbery, felony possession of a firearm, misdemeanor theft, three counts of simple assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, three summary harassment charges and driving with a suspended license.

Police were still trying to locate him as of Friday afternoon.
