A Fredericktown man was sentenced to federal prison for robbing an Allegheny County bank of more than $111,000 in 2017.

Gary White, 21, will serve three years and five months in prison for robbing PNC Bank in Brentwood, federal prosecutors said.

On Sept. 20, White went into the branch with a knife, telling one of the bank clerks to remove the glass partition that separates them from the public. When the teller couldn’t do so, White removed the window and climbed behind the counter.

Prosecutors charged he ordered tellers to open several safes behind the counter.

White removed piles of cash from the safes totaling $111,409, before fleeing in his vehicle, prosecutors said. Authorities were able to track him down using surveillance video and the vehicle’s registration.

When they executed a search warrant at White’s home and on his vehicle, authorities said they found the clothes he wore during the robbery, as well as a bag containing $103,309.

White turned himself in days later and confessed to the robbery. He pleaded guilty in the case earlier this year.

When he is released from prison, Chief U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti ordered White to serve three years on supervised release.
