On Dec. 8, approximately 40 police officers from departments in Cecil Township, Canonsburg and North Strabane Township played the role of Santa’s helpers as they shopped for toys and Christmas presents with 130 children from the Canon-McMillan School District and their families at the Washington Walmart Supercenter in Trinity Point Shopping Plaza. Lunch was provided for the kids prior to the start of their shopping trip. Local law enforcement raised more than $16,000 for the event, with Walmart donating another $10,000. Klayton Kemis, 7, of North Strabane Township picks out a toy with the help of Cecil Township police Sgt. Mike Falconer. Julius Carlisle, 9, and Sienna Whitlock, 7, both of North Strabane Township, shopped with North Strabane Township police Officer Pat Lee.
