Air Force Airman Brandon M. Batka, son of Andrew and Jessica Batka of Nunica, Mich., and Wayne and Christina Livingston of Bentleyville, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Batka is a 2013 graduate of Bentworth Senior High School.
Private Colton Gray, son of Shawn and Angela Gray of Washington, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. During 10 weeks of training, Gray studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises. He will begin additional training at Fort Huachuca in Arizona and attend California University of Pennsylvania in the spring. Gray is a 2014 graduate of Trinity High School.
Dakota K. Snyder, an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduated from the Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Knox, Ky. Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard or Army Reserve. Snyder is a son of Bobbi K. and John M. Snyder of Canonsburg. He is a 2011 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Luke D. Thompson, son of Lisa and John Thompson of Canonsburg, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Thompson earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is a 2010 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
