University Veterinary Specialists has a new name and new signage.

The pet-care facility, on Washington Road in Peters Township, is now known as MedVet Pittsburgh following a partnership with that veterinary network. MedVet, based in Columbus, Ohio, is a 30-year-old organization that has nearly two dozen medical centers in 11 states. This is its first in Pennsylvania.

MedVet said in a news release it is a veterinarian-led and owned network that provides specialty and emergency health care. It added that it will continue to provide services that UVS offered: dentistry, emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, rehabilitation and surgery.

UVS opened at the existing location in autumn 2016, in a building previously occupied by Colonial Modern Furniture. That location is near the Upper St. Clair line.
