WAYNESBURG – Stephanie Nichole Victor, 20, of 285 E. High St., Waynesburg, was charged by Waynesburg police with prostitution after she allegedly offered to have sex with a man for money.

Police said they received a call Feb. 2 from John Furbee of Waynesburg, who said he was concerned about being “blackmailed.”

Furbee told police a woman he knew only by Stephanie was at his home earlier and had threatened to tell police he raped her after he refused to give her money in exchange for sex. Furbee showed police a text message he received Jan. 31 in which Victor indicated what sex act she would perform for $35.

Police said they determined where she lived and went to her home to identify her. Speaking with her at her home, Victor admitted she had been at Furbee’s residence.

Police later received the telephone number from which the text message originated and determined it came from Victor’s telephone. In a follow-up interview, Victor admitted sending the text message to Furbee, police said. But she also said she did not intend to act on it.

Charges were filed March 25 with District Judge Lou Dayich. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. May 6. Victor is currently in the the Greene County jail for a probation violation on an unrelated offense.
